The straw protects the new seeding and helps retain moisture levels for optimum germination.  The tack holds the straw in place and eliminates the mess often associated with traditional straw mulching.  Covers up to 500 sq ft / bale.  We have found that actual coverage is closer to 300-350 sq ft per bale.
